Are you ready to "Step Up" to the challenge? Aims of the New Zealand Cadet Forces
The Air Training Corps is a youth organisation for young adults, both male and female, aged between 13 and 18 years. 22 Squadron is the Air Training Corps unit covering the Upper Hutt area. The Air Training Corps is not part of the New Zealand Defence Force and all adult staff are unpaid volunteers. Members have no obligation to head into the regular force, however some do choose to join the New Zealand Defence Force. The Air Training Corps has an Air Force 'flavour' so there are high standards to maintain. We supply your uniform free of charge on a loan basis for your use during your career. The uniform is identical to the Royal New Zealand Air Force uniform except that cadets have "CADET FORCES" on their rank slides rather than "NEW ZEALAND". Because of this similarity we expect a high standard of dress and self discipline. See our Code of Behaviour page for details. The membership cost is kept as low as possible. Term fees are currently set at $30 per term. We meet on Tuesday evenings during the school term from 1900hrs (7pm) to 2130hrs (9.30pm) at the Cadet Force Compound Dante Road Trentham. We also have weekend activities - flying / gliding, bushcraft, target shooting etc. National and even international opportunities are also available to cadets.
